Who else wants to spend a day or at least an afternoon at this wonderful winery called Scribe? I had a such a great time there and I’m so happy to be posting about our experience in the “Hacienda”!!
Napa and Sonoma have numerous outstanding wineries to visit, and it can be overwhelming to choose the best ones if you are visiting for a short period of time. As a Napa Valley resident, I’m happy to provide this tip because Scribe was one of the most beautiful properties I’ve ever visited.
The Wine Tasting and Food Experience is something you cannot miss during your visit. Scribe has an organic garden on the property, which allows for a farm to table experience to pair with tasty wines!!
Scribe Winery in Sonoma produces many vibrant wine varietals such as Rosé, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and also my favorite red, Cabernet Sauvignon!!
The winery was founded in 2007 on a property that pioneered pre-prohibition Sonoma Valley. Their winemaking is currently managed by fourth-generation California farmers and brothers, Andrew and Adam Mariani.
Andrew and Adam believe the best wines are the result of a healthy relationship between man and nature, and that a vineyard managed in harmony with the greater ecosystem results in more site-specific wines that represent a sense of time and place. When vinified with non-interventionist methods, the result is a distinct wine that faithfully reflects what the vineyard naturally expresses.
Reservations are required in advance to enjoy a wine tasting at this gorgeous winery!!
We were greeted at the entrance with a glass of the Riesling, which I absolutely loved because it is a dry, citrus white wine (I am not big fan of sweet wines), so their Riesling hit the spot! Scribe also provided some almonds, fresh cherry tomatoes, and olives to snack on that came from their gorgeous garden!
The next course was a lovely floral salad paired with a glass of Chardonnay. As you can see, the lunch pairing was healthy, natural, organic, and delicious. One thing that I absolutely adore about Scribe is the food pairing because most of the wineries in the Valley are not allowed to serve food!
The next dish served was arancini balls filled with delicious risotto, and grilled vegetables which paired perfectly with another one of their Chardonnays!!
At the end of the tasting we had sweet organic strawberries with a glass of Pinot Noir. What I love the most about Pinot Noir is that it’s a catch-all food pairing wine because it’s light enough for fish but complex enough to hold up to some richer meats like duck. Pinot Noir is a very well-known varietal in Sonoma County, and Scribe produces some of the best ones!!
You can go look around and finish your tasting in one of their super cute rooms in their hacienda (farm-style) property. It is very charming and has some breathtaking views!!
